Fran Elliott Biography
From a early age I have had a strong interest in painting. I began with acylics, but was drawn towards watercolour as it allowed me to further express myself. I love the translucency and fluidity of watercolour, and how it allows me to use many techniques to create texture in my paintings. The challenge in watercolour is to know when to stop and let the medium take over—making a successful painting appear effortless. I enjoy interacting with art patrons and other artists about the creative process and techniques applied to create my paintings.
As a lifelong resident of Hamilton, I have attended classes in Fine Arts Program at Mohawk College, the Dundas Valley School of Art, the Royal Botanical Gardens, and various other local workshops. I am a member of the Women's Art Association of Hamilton, and the Lakeside Pumphouse Artists' Association in Grimsby.
I have had my art displayed in several local exhibitions, including at the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Carnegie Gallery, McMaster Innovation Park, the Dignam Gallery in Toronto, the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts, WAAH exhibitions, DVSA annual auction, as well as local charity fundraising events, and private collections.
