Susan Pearson Biography

I was always interested in art; liked watching my mother, an artist, make art. I studied art in school, but got more formal training in writing about literature at McGill University. I studied graphic design as well, thinking it was like art, but would make money. That fell through, but I am still taking photographs.

I received art education from Concordia University and the Dundas Valley School of Art. Some of my art experience includes participating in exhibitions, curating a few exhibitions, and art reviewing in the Hamilton area.

My preferred medium is photography. In my photographs I try to capture the atmosphere of the scene I am photographing. I try to help the landscape evoke the ambiance of it in the photograph. In this way, I'd like to leave a personal record or impression of where I've been. Some of my photographs are desolate, others are picturesque. I try to capture different moods with my choice of subject matter. Different cities offer different possibilities.

I joined Women's Art Association of Hamilton in 2000, and have enjoyed being part of the Hamilton art community this way. I have exhibited in a few juried and non-juried shows, and have sold photographs, at the DVSA art auctions, in part.
