Zorica Krasulja-Silverthorne Biography

Zorica was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. She studied art at Sheridan College in Oakville, where she completed the Art Fundamentals program then the Interpretive Illustration program, where she focused on Children's Book Illustration.

Since graduating from Sheridan in 2002, she has been pursuing a career in the arts. Zorica has illustrated several children's books and participated in many exhibitions throughout the years.

She is inspired by a variety of things:  such as nature, people, architecture, animals (especially cats) and fairy tales. Her paintings reflect her love of colour and strytelling. Her choice mediums are oils and a combination of watercolours, ink and gouache. Capturing moments in time with a focus on colour, pattern, composition, and whimsy, she creates memorable pieces that allow one to escape reality, if only for a short while.

She is an active member of the Women's Art Association of Hamilton where she volunteers as the Exhibition Chair and 3rd Vice President. She is also an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists. Zorica also works as an art educator, and occasionally as a Preparator at the Art Gallery of Hamilton.

As well as having a passion for the arts, she quite enjoys floral design. Zorica completed the Flora Techniques Certificate at Mohawk College and has put her skills to work as a florist at a local west end flower shop.

Currently, Zorica resided in the country where she is surrounded by limitless inspiration.
