Wendy Dougan Biography

I am pleased to call myself an artist. I begin the creative process by taking photos wherever I may go, of pets, of homes, of shadows and light. Perhaps a photo taken with my point and shoot camera could be considered art? I paint though, with the hope my artwork will evoke emotion the camera hasn't captured. I enjoy the process from concept to completion.

I love the feel of a paint loaded brush making contact with the paper, a slight resistance as the paper absorbs the colour...

Watercolour is my favourite medium. Since retiring from a bank, I have taken a variety of interesting art classes that include drawing, watercolour and acrylic painting. These classes were held by the AGH, DVSA, RBG and Sackville Hill Seniors Rec Centre.

I am an active member with and the Membership Chair for the Woman's Art Association of Hamilton. (WAAH) . Relatively new to the world of art, I am trying to learn the ins and outs while I develop my own style.
